Several Ennis residents and city leaders were on hand Thursday for the grand opening of Apple Annie’s Garden Gate Floral and Gifts Shoppe in downtown Ennis.

The new owners, Nancy and Jimmy Swindell, say they are open for business and are ready to serve the community.

“Our goal is to give the best service we can possibly give,” Nancy said. “Our main goal is customer service.

Swindell is not a stranger to the shop, having worked for 12 years in the shop when it was under the ownership of Carol Rejcek.

“We’re a work in progress – we’ve changed the looks up some, and we’ve added a small boutique,” she said. “We also do weddings and other functions. We just did decorations for the Lions Club Sweetheart Banquet.”

Nancy will enjoy help from husband, Jimmy, who is an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted by the Ennis Chamber of Commerce with chamber CEO Jeannette Patak presenting Swindell with a plaque, followed by words of congratulations by Mayor Pro-tem Bob Taylor.

Services by Apple Annie’s include weddings, funerals, special occasions, corporate functions and custom Christmas decorating. It also offers fresh flowers, plants, silks, gift baskets, candy bouquets  and balloons.
