An Ellis County Grand Jury indicted a homeless man, David Anthony Benson, 35, on charges of arson and burglary of a building Thursday, Jan. 23. The Ennis Police Department arrested Benson Saturday, Nov. 2.

According to the first indictment Benson allegedly entered a building without the consent of the owner on Nov. 2. He allegedly attempted to commit theft of property, fishing rods and reels.

In the second indictment, Benson allegedly attempted to damage or destroy a building located at by 905 N. Kaufman in Ennis by lighting a storage building on fire.

Benson was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center at 2:52 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4. He is currently being held on a total bond of $60,000. Edward Jendrzey has been named as Bensonís attorney.
