The Red Oak ISD will host an open house from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the newly named Acorn Community and Family Services Center of Red Oak ISD located at 101 Live Oak Street by the Old Town Park in Red Oak. The public is invited to the come-and-go event to walk the halls of the former high school building and learn about its new purpose.

The facility was recently renovated to house the Red Oak ISD Education Foundation and Student and Family Services Department.

Originally, the building was constructed as a high school in 1972. It later served intermediate and junior high school students and also housed numerous student service departments. It was also home to Acorn Academy for some time.

In November 2013, the Red Oak ISD School Board unanimously voted to rename the building as the Acorn Community and Family Services Center of Red Oak ISD.
