January 14, 2014 at 10:13am, The Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a female reporting a shooting at a residence in the 600 block of N. 4th Street in the city of Midlothian.

Midlothian Police and EMS responded to the scene. The female caller stated that the suspect was a white male and he was still at the location sitting in a white pick-up truck. Upon arrival Midlothian Officers observed the suspect standing at the back of a truck with his hands up and offered no resistance. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident. A white male victim was located lying on the ground outside the residence. Midlothian Fire/EMS started treating the victim for a gunshot wound in the chest. The victim was taken by MFD Ambulance to MFD Station 1 where CareFlight landed and took the victim to Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The victim is a white male, 45 years old and is not being identified at this time pending notification of family.

The suspect a white male, 62, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Midlothian Police Department for questioning. No further information is available at this time. Midlothian Investigators and Patrol Officers are processing the crime scene for evidence and witnesses.
