James “J.W.” Brooks Jr.

James “JW” Brooks Jr. was born Sept. 21, 1935 and passed away on Jan. 11, 2014. After serving in the Air Force, he joined the Dallas Police Department where he served for 29 years. He also pastored several churches as a Baptist minister. Through the years he also served his community as a foster parent, coach and Cub and Boy Scout leader. In his golden years, he enjoyed serving hot dogs and popcorn at church carnivals and telling outrageous stories to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Myra; sisters, Elaine Fuller and Sunny Feldpausch; four children, Larry Brooks, Randy Brooks, Chris and Brooke Brooks and Jennifer and Jason Mays; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one uncle, two aunts and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at the Midlothian Funeral Home and services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Midlothian Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Midlothian Cemetery.
