David Eugene Carfrey I was born Oct. 14, 1945 to the family of Charles Rex and Martha Mae Carfrey in Athens, Ohio and was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the age of 68. David was raised by Charles Rex and Mary Louise Carfrey in Arizona. He graduated from Prescott High School in Prescott, Ariz. in 1963.

He loved music and enjoyed trips with his family as a child. David has been a music director and Pastor in California, Kentucky, Virginia and Texas. God called him to the ministry at the age of 18, and was licensed into the ministry by his dad, also a pastor, at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Sept. 5, 1965 in Prescott. He was ordained by West Main Baptist Church in Alice on June 4, 1989. He became Chaplain at the Sanders Estes Unit in Venus in 1999 where he continued his service to the Lord until his passing on Jan. 11, 2014. He was a shepherd over his flock for those who knew him. Chaplain/Pastor Carfrey will be missed, but we look forward to joining him in heaven.

David is survived by his wife, Georgia Carfrey; children, David E. and Dawn Carfrey, II, Rose Marie Carfrey and Anna Marie and Rudy Garza; grandchildren, David E. Carfrey III and Stacey Squire, Leroy K and Chelsea Carfrey, Charles Daniel Carfrey and Sarah Ross, Nicholas Garza and Davana Marie Carfrey; great-grandchildren, Braden Carfrey Squire and Corbin Gague Carfrey; siblings, Danie Rex and Shirley Carfrey, Charles Lawrence and Gloria Carfrey, Bill and Marian Huffman, Joe and Cheryl Huffman and Martha and Kevin Wall and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Midlothian Funeral Home and services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at Midlothian Bible Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
