Waxahachie-area band El Conjunto Baraja de Oro (BDO) is scheduled to play the Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival on Feb. 8 in Austin, for the second year in a row.
Since BDO's appearance at the festival in 2013, they have become very popular in the Live Music Capital of the World. They, along with other up-and-coming North Texas Conjunto groups like Los Morales Boyz, Los De La Cruz, Grupo Pression, Conjunto Prestigio, and Ruben y Su Klika Tejana, to name a few, have been representing the Dallas-Fort Worth area well in a genre that is most often identified with South Texas.
BDO is also scheduled to appear on Domingo Live on Jan. 26. Every Sunday morning for nearly 50 years on Corpus Christi ABC affiliate KIII TV, Domingo Live has presented live television performances by Tejano and Conjunto music's most legendary and iconic performers, reaching millions of viewers from Corpus Christi to South Texas. This will be BDO's first appearance on the show, and will be many of the show's viewers' first exposure to the powerhouse group.
