The Salvation Army Waxahachie Corps recently received a $20,000 grant from Texas Utilities (TXU) in an effort to help meet the needs of those in the community.
Social Services Director Andrea Slack said this is just one way the Salvation Army can assist members of the community with short-term financial assistance to help them get back on their feet after an unexpected emergency. She also said the grant monies are designated for those who have accounts with TXU, and the emergency must have taken place in the past 90 days.
“TXU has always been great about helping their customers,” Slack said. “They understand that people have unexpected emergency situations, and need help from time to time. That is one of the reasons they made this grant money available to organizations like the Salvation Army.”
She said the money can only be used for the actual bill payment, not for late fees or deposits.
For members of the community interested in applying for bill assistance, the following information is required:
Ellis County resident Photo identification A form of identification of everyone in the household TXU bill Lease or mortgage statement Form of income, must include last two pay stubs Documentation of the actual emergency
