The Palmer Bulldogs and Red Oak Life Mustangs played a shoot out Friday night in Palmer.

The two teams combined to gain 1,027 yards as both teams forgot to bring their defenses to the game.

Palmer racked up 557 yards in the 52-38 victory for its fourth win of the season.

Red Oak Life led 31-23 late in the second quarter before the Palmer offense really got going after a 74-yard scoring pass from Ty Mitchell to Dillon McCord with 2:09 left in the half.

Bulldog quarterback Mitchell completed 12 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 23 yards.

Rudy Ramos ran 29 times for 231 yards and four scores to help push Palmer to the win. Jake Anglin also scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground.

Anglin also had a great receiving night as he caught six passes for 123 yards and a score. McCord had two catches for 92 yards.

Palmer only converted one of four two-point conversion attempts.

Red Oak Life was led by junior running back Kaine Blake, who ran 30 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

Colten Oder ran 11 times for 67 yards and a score. He also completed nine passes for 139 yards.

Ezra Zepeda also scored a touchdown.

Preston Grase had four catches for 55 yards and Nick Forde had a pair of grabs for 49 yards.

While the Life School’s defense wasn’t great, Adrian Cooper played well as he had 12 tackles, three for a loss. Bryson Shull and Jarius Seaton each had an interception. Kamron Blackmon recovered a fumble.

The Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 in 12-2A) has this week off before continuing district play Oct. 11 at Clifton (0-5, 0-1 in 12-2A).

The Mustangs (2-3, 0-1 in 12-2A) will host Clifton this weekend as both teams go for their first win in district play.
