After 18 years of domination, Crandall’s reign over Ferris seems to be over.

The Yellowjackets have now won four meetings in a row against the Pirates following Friday’s 35-0 win.

Once again, the stingy Yellowjacket defense was incredible. It only allowed 174 yards of total offense and kept Crandall out of the end zone. The defense also added to their take away total by recovering a fumble and with Niko Garza adding an interception.

The Ferris defense has gotten at least one interception in every game this season and has 10 total. The Yellowjackets also had several pass break ups while Crandall had just 10 complete passes.

The offense started a little slow, but it came alive in the second quarter as Javaughn Thurman connected with Garza for an 80-yard touchdown pass.

On the Yellowjackets’ next possession they marched down the field as Jay Foster took it in from 16 yards out.

Ferris kept that same momentum going as they took the opening drive of the second half down the field for another touchdown when Thurman rushed it in from nine yards out. Thurman and Cameron King connected on a 23-yard touchdown pass and then Thurman capped the scoring with an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Thurman lead the team with 115 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for 187 yards and two scores.

Ferris (5-0) takes this momentum to Anna next Friday night.
