The Waxahachie junior high schools each won one of their four games this week.

Howard took on Lancaster and got one victory in four tries against the Tigers. Finley took on Forney Warren and got one win in four attempts.

The Howard seventh-grade “A” team beat Lancaster 26-13. Buddy Gardner, Jordan Fay, Will Morgan, and William Powell helped lead the Warriors.

The Howard seventh-grade “B” team lost to Lancaster 33-7. Eric Johnson, Bry Donalson, Chuck Tolliver and Austin Scott played well.

The Howard eighth-grade “B” team lost to the Tigers 47-0. Trevor Mott and Rodrigo Mendoza played well.

The Howard eighth-grade “A” team lost their first game of the year to the Tigers 33-0. Turnovers and costly penalties lead to the loss. Caleb High, Trey Cooks, Quad’Tavius Donalson and Zach Betts played well.

The Howard Warriors will play Red Oak this week. The eighth-grade teams will play Red Oak on Tuesday night at Wilemon Field in Waxahachie. The seventh-grade teams will play in Red Oak on Wednesday night at their high school stadium.

Finley’s seventh-grade “A” team won their game 14-0. Cornerback Chris Martinez had two interceptions, including one he returned for 40 yards and a touchdown. Safety Christian Diaz and linebackers Eric Martin and Hunter Helms each had tackles. Running backs Joseph Burk and Angel Perez each ran well. Burk had a 13-yard touchdown run.

The Finley seventh-grade “B” team lost 20-6. Linebacker Chris Tryon and defensive linemen Alec Wright and Jessie Martinez each had tackles for loss. Martinez also had a five-yard sack. Running back Tony Kim had a 55-yard run and quarterback Clayton Brown had a two-yard touchdown run.

The Finley eighth-grade “B” lost 21-6. The defense was led by cornerback Joaquin Juarez, linebackers Kenneth Bailey and Julian Garcia, safety Gabe Alexander and defensive ends Jason Midkiff and Nathan Jones. Midkiff had a four-yard sack and Jones and Garcia each recovered fumbles. Quarterback Ryan Allen completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Josue Balderas.

The Finley eighth-grade “A” team lost 27-8. Linebacker Gabriel Kubankin and defensive linemen Jonathan Perez, Carlos Garcia, Juan Casas and Jorge Vasquez played well for the defense. Running backs Kubankin, Cameron Martin and Keelen Azakytu ran well for the offense. Azakytu had a 22-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Bryce Salik completed a 14-yard pass to wide receiver Parker Renfro.

Finley’s next opponent is Corsicana. The seventh-grade teams play at Wilemon Field on Monday. The eighth-grade teams plays Tuesday at the Corsicana High School Stadium.
