WASHINGTON, D.C. ó† Representative Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) remains committed in the fight against continued assaults on affordable energy and jobs by President Obamaís Administration and the EPA. During an event outside the Capitol Thursday morning, Rep. Barton joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers from both the House and Senate urging everyone to focus on the damage new regulations will have on jobs and the cost of energy production.

ďThis is about energy choice and the cost of electricity for consumers in America. When the EPA last week put out these new regulations for coal, they basically said coal plants have to cut their emissions in half. Thatís not possible without raising the cost of energy.

ďAs a result, youíre just not going to build coal plants, youíre not going to use coal as an energy source even though itís the most abundant energy source in America. This is really not a war against coal; itís a war against the American consumer and the right to choose what the best source of electricity is for our folks here in the United States.

ďI hope that with all the powerful legislators we have here today, that we are able to either convince the EPA to rescind these rules or perhaps it may be even possible legislatively to delay or overturn them.Ē

Congressman Barton will continue working with this group from both sides of the aisle determined to protect job growth and economic development in our nation.
