MARSHALL, Mo. — Midlothian High School graduate David Busse has signed his letter-of-intent to play baseball for Missouri Valley College beginning with the 2014 season.
Busse, a Midlothian native, comes to Missouri Valley College after being a member of his school’s baseball program at Midlothian High School. In addition to baseball, Busse was also a member of the school’s DECA Club.
“All the coaches are very excited about David and what he has to offer,” said MVC Head Baseball Coach John McEachern. “He is a great student and athlete and will be a vital addition to the program.”
Busse plans to major in mass communications and is the son of Mary and J.R. Garcia of Midlothian.
“We’re very excited and proud of David. He’s worked so hard for this opportunity,” said David’s mom Mary.
Sidelined with an injury during his senior year of high school, Busse spent the summer working with Casteel Lacy, owner of LPI baseball in Midlothian, to regain his strength and pitching form.
“Not being able to play during his senior year because of the injury was very hard on him,” Mary said. “But he never lost focus. He helped broadcast all the games on Panther Radio, kept his spirits up and never lost sight of his dream. We’re very, very proud of him and he’s very excited to be able to pitch for Missouri Valley College.”
