The Ferris Yellowjackets’s defense showed up in Wills Point ready to play Friday night. 

Ferris held Wills Point to just 219 total yards and had four interceptions to set the tone for the 24-3 victory. Charles Smith returned the first interception 80 yards for the first score of the game in the first quarter.

James Alaniz added another pick in the first quarter. Lorenzo Garcia grabbed one in the second quarter and Darius Rouwtt had an interception in the third quarter. Ferris now has eight interceptions through three games this year. Ferris’ defense also had 11 tackles for loss yards and gave up 77 yards rushing. 

The Ferris offense did its part as well, especially in the second half. Javaughn Thurman connected with Darius Rouwtt on a 37-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Thurman added a rushing touchdown on a one-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Miguel Mindiola added a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Thurman lead the jackets as he had 63 rushing yards on 23 carries. Jay Foster added 59 yards on 13 carries. Thurman also passed for 123 yards on eight completions.

Rouwtt had four receptions and 60 yards. Cameron King added 43 yards on two catches. 

Ferris has outscored its first three opponents this year 100-18. Ferris (3-0) will put its undefeated record on the line at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Quinlan Ford.
