The Waxahachie freshman A team had no problem Thursday night as it rolled to a 38-0 win.
Jalen Reagor and Eris Miles played great at running back. Kareem Erskine was a dual-threat with his arm and legs at quarterback. Tyler Navarro also played well at signal caller. Jake Latimer was their top target at wide receiver.
Anthony Gospodarek, Anthony Perez, Nick Stewart, Trent Martinez and Moses Ramirez anchored the offensive line.
On the defensive side of the ball, Antywan Redic and Trent Carson played great at safety while Kenedy Snell was a shutdown cornerback.
Anthony Bartollo, Keiondre Henderson and De’Quan Childs controlled the middle of the field at linebacker.
David Marhall and MJ Onadele got good pressure on the Wranglers with their play on the defensive line.
The Finley Junior High football teams got their first game action this week.
The seventh-grade B team got great defensive play from linebacker Chris Tryon, cornerback Tony Kim and defensive linemen Johnny Martinez and Garrett Ryan against the Red Oak Hawks.
Kim also recovered a fumble on defense and scored on a four-yard run on offense.
The seventh-grade A team was led by the defense of Austin Gallagher, Chris Martinez, Eric Martin, Esteban Hernandez and Jett Teakell.
Hernandez forced a fumble and had three tackles for loss, Teakell had an interception and Martinez recovered the fumble.
On offense, Cameron Clarke ran well for the Warriors.
The eighth-grade B defensive stand outs were linebackers Taryion Benson and Kenny Bailey, defensive ends Nathan Jones and Jason Midkiff and safety Phillip Rogers.
Midkiff had multiple tackles for loss, including a five-yard sack.
On offense, running back Anthony Martinez ran aggressively as did quarterbacks Nathan Jones and Joey Trevino. Martinez scored on a 31-yard touchdown run.
The eighth-grade A team was led by the defensive front of Carlos Garcia, Juan Casas and Jorge Vasquez as they disrupted the Red Oak offense consistently.
Safties Bryce Salik, Omri Reown and Keelan Azakytu and linebacker Gabriel Kubankin issued hard hits all night.
Linebacker Jarvis McCray had a forced fumble, which Salik recovered, and Azakytu had a interception.
Linebackers Trevor Evans and Jacob Aleman combined for a sack, linebacker Cameron Martin had a tackle for loss and linebacker Joey Trevino had a nine-yard sack.
Salik and Ryan Allen executed the offense well as the quarterbacks.
Salik completed passes to wide receivers Parker Renfro, Trevor Evans and a 50-yard pass to Jacob Frye.
Running back Gabriel Kubankin had touchdown runs of 38 and 30 yards.
The Warriors play Howard Junior High next week. The seventh-grade teams play on Monday and the eighth-grade teams play on Tuesday.
The action is at Wilemon Field on both nights. B team games begin at 5:30 p.m. and A team games start at 6:30 p.m.
