The officers and board members for the Education Foundation for Waxahachie ISD are pleased to announce that registration is open for the third annual “Legacy Run,” a 5K, 10K, and One Mile Fun Run/Walk, slated for Oct. 5, 2013.

The Legacy Run will be presented once again by local home builder, Lillian Custom Homes. The theme for this year’s event, which will take place during Homecoming Weekend, is “Hachie Heroes!”

The Legacy Run will feature a 5K and 10K course and One Mile Fun Run/Walk that will begin and end at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium.

Early registration prices are available through Sept. 20. Adult cost to participate in the 5K and One Mile Fun Run is $25 while the 10K is $30. Students (K-12) are $10. Children 4 and under are free with the purchase of an adult registration entrance fee.

Adult participants may continue to register after the early registration deadline and on the day of the race for a fee of $35 for the 5K and One Mile Fun Run and $40 for the 10K. The student price will remain the same.

Runners and walkers may register and pay online, by mail, or in person.

To register and pay for the race online, visit the Legacy Run website at Participants also have the option of downloading a race registration form and mailing it to the Education Foundation or stopping by the Waxahachie ISD administration building located at 411 N. Gibson Street.

“The Legacy Run is a family friendly event that Waxahachie community members and WISD alumni can be proud of,” stated Amy Hollywood and Judd McCutchen, 2013 Legacy Run Chairmen. “Last year’s success with more than 500 runners proves that the community loves both the outdoors and education. The Legacy Run has become one of the main events during Homecoming weekend, and we are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support!”

The hero themed event will feature something for everyone – from the dedicated runner to the family wishing to be active and get outdoors. “Race Alley” will feature bounce houses, performances, as well as various booths for adults to peruse and visit.
