Texas Gubernatorial candidate Tom Pauken?provided the following remarks on this 12th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on America:

“This anniversary of 9-11 is a day every American will remember where they were the moment they heard news of the attacks. The effect was similar to other pivotal moments in American history, like when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, or when President Ronald Reagan was wounded in Washington, D.C.

“Each had the effect of reminding us all that sudden, serious, grievous events can have dramatic impact on the course of the nation.

“We should, as a nation and a state, always remember that these sorts of events do occur and we should prepare ourselves as though they might happen again at any time.

“As such, it’s important for Texas to keep our fiscal house in order with attention to minimizing our debt, keeping taxes low, and maintaining a strong, diverse economy with its agricultural, oil and gas, technology and health care foundations.

“As governor, I will work to keep Texas prepared for those unforeseen events in history.”
