NHRA driver meet and greet
The NHRA will host a driver media tour with Funny Car standout Robert Hight in advance of the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals on Sept. 6. The AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals will take place at historic Texas Motorplex19-22.
Robert Hight is a NHRA Funny Car driver. Robert Hight is one of the most successful drivers in the highly-competitive Funny Car ranks, winning the world championship in 2009. Hight is currently 10th in 2013, advancing to one final round in his 8,000-horsepower Auto Club Ford Mustang.
Hight, who has been as quick as 4.005 seconds at 321.81 mph in his Funny Car, has 27 career wins, including two in Dallas.
Hight, who is one of the most popular drivers in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, is also the president of John Force Racing Inc. and the son-in-law to 15-time Funny Car world champion John Force.
The Waxahachie Youth Baseball Association is looking for a few 10U and 8U softball players to add to teams. The 10U player must be born after Dec 31, 2001. The 8U player must be born after Jan. 1, 2004.

Hit ‘em for Haiti Golf
Waxahachie’s Covenant Life Church has organized the Hit ‘em for Haiti Golf Tournament on Oct. 25.
All proceeds benefit “Feed a Child Ministries” in Haiti.
The tournament will be at Tangleridge golf club in Grand Prairie. The tournament is a Texas Scramble with a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
Cost is $75 per player and lucnh is provided. Prizes will also go to first through third place finishers.

Kyle Cares Classic golf tournament
Join the Kyle Lewis Awareness Foundation for a four-man scramble golf tournament at Tierra Verde Golf Course in Arlington.
The tournamet starts at 8 a.m. Sept. 14. Check-in starts at 7 a.m.
The cost is only $99 per golfer, if paid by Sept. 8. The cost includes the cart, balls, a goodie bag, contests, awards and a lunch.

Cherokee Charmers Fall Classic
The Waxahachie Cherokee Charmers will host their Fall Classic Golf Tournament on Oct. 19 at Country View Golf Course in Lancaster.
Cost is $80 per player and that includes golf cart, green fee and lunch.
Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and lunch is served at 11 a.m. The tournament starts at 1 p.m.
There are door prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin shots and hole-in-one holes.
