MIDLOTHIAN — The Midlothian ISD Education Foundation will tee off its ninth annual golf tournament with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Mansfield National Golf Club. Registration and lunch starts at 11 a.m.
The deadline for player and team sign ups, sponsorships and donations is Sept. 6, so there is still time to get a team together or add your business as a sponsor for the tournament.
“Golfers can expect to enjoy a top-class golf course, fun and fellowship while giving back to students in the district,” Co-chair Gage Roland said. “Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 to fund the foundation’s innovative teaching grants, scholarships and student-teacher recognitions.”
By contributing to the MISD Education Foundation (MEF) and the tournament, participants are supporting a community organization committed to achieving excellence in MISD schools.
Since 2004, MEF has given more than $300,000 to MISD in grants and scholarships. Just this spring, MEF awarded seven innovative teaching grants totaling $29,000 to 24 teachers.
This year’s tournament is expected to bring in about 100 golfers, who will be grouped into teams for a four-man scramble format. Individuals or a pair of golfers can sign up and will be paired together to form a four person team.
Prizes will be awarded to individual golfers for the longest drive, closest to the hole and a hole-in-one contest. First, second and third place teams will also receive prizes. An awards ceremony will immediately follow the tournament.
