ENNIS — For the first time, cast members from the famed “Dukes of Hazzard” TV show are gathering together for a reunion festival called Hazzard Homecoming Texas Style. The two-day event will be held in Ennis at the Galaxy Drive-In on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
“We are excited to host this inaugural event featuring the cast of the hit TV series The Dukes of Hazzard,” said Galaxy Drive-In owner Marsha Murray. “Our venue is open year-round, but this is sure to be one of the year’s highlights with fans traveling from several states away.”
Front and center are the stars, and Hazzard Homecoming Texas Style will feature personal appearances and autograph sessions with cast members including Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke), Tom Wopat (Luke), Ben Jones (Cooter), James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane), Sonny Shroyer (Enos) and Rick Hurst (Cletus).
In addition to the popular meet & greets, there will be a Hazzard County Car Show featuring General Lee cars, as well as Hazzard County cars similar to ones that appeared in the show.
The festivities include two days of music, great food and family fun. On Saturday, Cooter’s Garage Band, led by Ben Jones, will serve up an entertaining show filled with country and rockabilly favorites. The program culminates with the addition of cast members joining Ben on stage for a few great stories, songs and unforgettable memories.
The movie feature of the weekend is the film “Return of the Killer Shrews” a sequel to the 1959 science fiction cult classic “The Killer Shrews.”
The original starred James Best, who later played Rosco in The Dukes of Hazzard. Best wrote, directed, and stars in the sequel, which also features John Schneider and Rick Hurst of the “Dukes” cast.
There is a separate admission price for “Return of the Killer Shews” and other movies that night. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for kids ages 4-11.
The Dukes of Hazzard series, which originally aired 1979 through 1985, airs in syndication on various networks including CMT.
“Each generation that comes along falls in love with it,” said Ben Jones.“They never say ‘The Dukes was a great show.’ They always say ‘The Dukes’ is a great show.”’
Tickets prices for Hazzard Homecoming Texas Style are:
- $25 weekend pass
- $15 for one day
- $5 for one day kids 5 – 10 years
- $10 weekend pass for kids 5-10 years
- Kids 4 years and younger are free, as well as Seniors 65 & older
There is an additional fee for autographs at the event, and celebrity schedules are subject to change.
