John Knight of Ovilla was the top money earner for the 2012 100th G.R.E.E.N. Golf Marathon, winning a weekend at Rough Creek Lodge. †

Knight, an officer of Chase Bank, has consistently ranked in the fundraiserís top five successful golfers in raising funds for abused and neglected children through the golf event. †

The fifth annual Golf Marathon is being held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. †

The field of approximately 60 golfers will compete for a first prize of a 55-inch LED television from Best Buy; second prize of a Galaxy Note mini-pad from Best Buy; third prize of a gift card to Loweís, and a fourth prize of dinner for 10 provided by the Rainbow Room. †

These prizes will all go to the four individuals who raise the most money through solicitation of pledges per hole played. †

Each golfer is expected to raise at least $1,000. †

The eventís golfers have an extraordinary day of fun and fellowship as they play 100 holes of golf in one day. †

Golf, food and soft drinks are provided free all day beginning with breakfast. †

Cleo Turner won the Taylor Made Superfast Driver for enlisting the most golfers for the eventís kick-off event at Thorntree Country Club in June. †

Brian Birdwell, State Senator for District 22, serves as this yearís Grand Marshall. †

Carlisle Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac is providing a Chevrolet Sonic for a hole in one prize. †

In addition, a $2,500 prize is awarded for a hole-in-one on all par three holes. †

The management team, citizens of Ellis County, and the golfers want to thank all of the event sponsors for their support of a good cause, providing financial resources for the abused and neglected children served by the Ellis County Child Welfare Board, C.A.S.A. of Ellis County, and the Rainbow Room. †

Each organization receives an equal distribution of funds.

More than $200,000 has been raised for this critical cause of helping give these victim children a safe, loving and secure environment. †
