Allred book signing Saturday at Hastings
Daily Light featured columnist Alexandra Allred, who is also a best-selling author with The Writer’s Coffee Shop Publishing House, will be signing copies of her latest novel “White Trash” from 1- 3 p.m. this Saturday at Hastings Entertainment in Waxahachie.
In addition to picking up a copy of her latest book, you’ll have a chance to visit — and officially welcome the former Olympic athlete (and new Waxahachie resident) to our community. You can also pick up copies of her previous novels and have them autographed.
Midlothian Downtown Farmers Market
The Midlothian Downtown Business Association will host its downtown farmers market from 8 a.m.-noon every Saturday until October at Heritage Park by the Larkin Newton Log Cabin.
E-book and audio book help at Sims Library
Having trouble with E-books? Need help learning how to get your library books on to your device? Nicholas P. Sims will be having a class on e-books and audio books to make sure you can get your books working. The class will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. Bring your device with you and if you have a laptop computer we will work together with the programs you already have. This is a first come, first serve class were we will work with you individually to make sure you are getting the best results with your e-readers and audio devices.
Keep Texas Red GOP event
The Ellis County Republican Party will host Congressman Louie Gohmert and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst at a fundraising event to be held at the Waxahachie Civic Center at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23.
There will be fine food, good music and guests. Enjoy the energy, motivating speeches and memories. Dress is business casual.

Nicholas P. Sims Library will show you how to design and paint a library bag at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. There are many different colors to choose from and you can make whatever type of design you want.
