The Midlothian Panther tennis team traveled to Waco last week for a quad match.

The team opened up strong with an 18-1 victory versus Copperas Cove. The team looked good winning three three-setters in doubles to go up 7-0 leading into singles.

They continued the dominance and only dropped one match.

Junior Amber Hamel clinched the match with an 8-2 victory.

In the Panthers’ second match, they faced another opponent in Harker Heights. The doubles’ teams battled hard to go up 5-2, winning two of those in three sets.

The Panthers outlasted Heights with an 11-8 victory. Senior Julia DLloach clinched the team victory with an 8-2 win.

That puts the Panthers at 3-0 on the year as they are right back at it with several matches this week.

Midlothian host Abilene at 1 p.m. today and Ennis at 4 p.m. Thursday.

After that, the Panthers will head to Waco for another quad match.

District play begins Sept. 20 with a match at 3:30 p.m. at Duncanville.
