ENNIS — With a sweltering summer barely over it may be a bit too early to talk about Christmas, unless it is to announce auditions for the Ennis Public Theatre K.I.D.S. production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”
Based on the beloved Barbara Robinson book of the same name, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is a hilarious laugh-out-loud show with a spiritual message that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. Auditions will be held at Ennis Public Theatre located at 2705-C N. Kaufman St., Ennis. Production dates are Dec. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, & 15.
There are multiple parts available for children, teens and even adults.
This is the perfect opportunity to be involved in an activity with your child.
Worried it might be too much for you? The show only runs about an hour long – perfect for those who want to dip their toes into the acting pool. If you are a little more seasoned, there are several terrific parts available – especially one for a female aged 25-45.
Bring the whole family to auditions; the more the merrier!
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please prepare a written list of conflicts to present at auditions.
Rehearsals will be scheduled 2-3 nights a week around the majority of cast conflicts. If you have a conflict with the audition date, but not the production dates you may arrange a different audition date with the director, Jamey Pritchett, by calling 903-641-5881 or by emailing email@example.com.

The Herdmans are the worst kids in the whole history of the world!
Why? They lie and steal and smoke cigars (even the girls) and talk dirty and cuss their teachers and take the name of the Lord in vain.
In fact, their classmates only feel safe from them at church. That is, until an innocent comment brings the Herdmans into church and they find themselves starring in the annual Christmas pageant.
Soon even the congregation is running for cover!
But who would have guessed that the parents, teachers, children and especially the Herdmans could end up discovering the true meaning of the season?
Find out why everyone is in such an uproar over the Herdmans, and how a series of disasters turns into what everyone comes to agree is “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”
