American Accounting Association recently named Navarro College's Cathy Scott the Two-Year College Educator of the Year Award recipient for 2012-2013.

Scott was recognized for her excellence and innovation in teaching accounting, commitment to the improvement of teaching within her institution, and leadership in the development of teaching and learning beyond her own courses.

Judy Cutting, Dean of Business, Professional, and Technical Education, noted Scott's commitment to her students and Navarro College.

“During her tenure as Accounting Coordinator/Faculty at Navarro College, Cathy Scott has shown an unwavering commitment to teaching excellence and student success. Mrs. Scott is committed to developing knowledgeable, ethical professionals. She regularly hears from former students who are experiencing success in higher education and employment,” Cutting said. “This award is well deserved.”

Scott also served as the 2012-2013 Section Regional Coordinator for Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum for the AAA.

The American Accounting Association promotes worldwide excellence in accounting education, research and practice. Founded in 1916 as the American Association of University Instructors in Accounting, its present name was adopted in 1936. The Association is a voluntary organization of persons interested in accounting education and research.
