OVILLA – A white 2005 Ford F-250 4X4 was stolen in the 200 block of Lariat Trail in Ovilla on July 23 and Ovilla police currently have no suspects.
Police are uncertain of the time that the Ford truck was stolen, but reports indicate it was during the night while the owner of the truck was at home.
Ovilla police also report they have not determined how the truck was stolen. The owner reported that the truck was locked and the keys were not in it.
Mike Moon, Ovilla’s Chief of Police said this is the first vehicle stolen in the city of Ovilla in over a year, but he also says the department has had unconfirmed reports recently that thefts involving these types of trucks are becoming more common.
“That is unconfirmed,” he emphasized, adding “we are checking with other police departments in the area as well but meanwhile always make sure that your vehicles are locked and please don’t leave your keys in the vehicle when you are not in them.”
