Two Methodist Health System Hospitals Recognized for Second Consecutive Year

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) have recognized Methodist Dallas Medical Center and Methodist Charlton Medical Center for excellence in lactation care for the second consecutive year.

Methodist Dallas and Methodist Charlton each received the 2012 IBCLC Care Award in recognition for staffing International Board Certified Lactation Consultants®, as well as for providing a lactation program that is available 5-7 days a week for breastfeeding families.  In addition, the hospitals demonstrated that they have provided recent breastfeeding training for medical staff that care for new families, and have recently completed activities that help protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.

“We are thrilled to receive this award recognizing our commitment to provide quality breastfeeding education to our patients,” says Dani Cagle, perinatal educator and lactation coordinator at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. “Educating and supporting new mothers as they make decisions about how to care for their children is one of our top priorities.”

Methodist Dallas and Methodist Charlton are also designated as Texas Ten Step Hospitals by the Texas Hospital Association for providing optimal care to improve breastfeeding outcomes.
