The Midlothian Chamber of Commerce invited the community to join in welcoming new chamber president Cammy Jackson to Midlothian on Thursday, Aug. 1.

About 60 Chamber members, community leaders, notable individuals and heads of other area chambers filled the community room at Citizens National Bank to meet Jackson, mingle and enjoy light refreshments. Jackson's husband, Alan Jackson and daughter Taylor also joined her in meeting members of the Midlothian community at the reception.

The event is just the beginning of Jackson's immersion in the community and mission to form strong bonds with each of the major entities in Midlothian.

As president of the DeSoto Chamber, Jackson developed a positive reputation for building alliances across community groups, such as the city, the school district, and economic development.

“I think it's really important that the top leaders of the district, economic development and city are all on the same page,” Jackson said in a previous interview. “That way we're not stepping on each other's toes and are all reaching for the same goal. I think that's most important, that we all have the same end goal in mind.”

She plans on meeting with each organization – the Midlothian ISD, Midlothian Economic Development and the city – to see how the chamber can work with each in a better way. Jackson assumed her duties as chamber president on July 29.
