The Ellis County Commissioners Court approved a short-term lease agreement between the county and C&K Capital for several buildings in downtown Waxahachie during a specially called meeting Monday.
The lease is for properties located a 114 S. Rogers, 109 W. Franklin, 111 W. Franklin 113 W. Franklin, 115 W. Franklin 117 W. Franklin and 200 S. Rogers. This will cover the time period from Monday, July 29-Thursday, Aug. 15 at a cost of $1.
The county sold the buildings to C&K Capital with the closing held Monday. The lease agreement allows the county time to clean out the buildings of any remaining items such furniture and office equipment that still remain in them.
Ellis County Judge Carol Bush said the buildings are in the process of being cleaned out at present. At the commissioners court meeting held Friday, July 26 the items in the buildings were declared as surplus or salvage. Some of the items will be donated to local charitable organizations while other items might be recycled through an e-waste recycler.
In other business the commissioners approved a payment made to Chuck Floyd in the amount of $1,172.60. These attorney’s fees and expenses were for services to provide legal council to residents who were indigent.
