Belk of Waxahachie is preparing for its annual KidFest, which has been scheduled from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.
The event will include two fashion shows, at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Also a model search contest will be held that will give two winners an opportunity to be in the Belk catalog.
Operations Team Manager Robyn Spurgeon said the company hosts this event twice a year and it’s one they look forward to.
“We put on this event twice each year,” Spurgeon said. “It is such a fun day for kids. We have crafts, games, and of course, fashion.”
Spurgeon said seeing the joy on the childrens’ faces is also what makes this event fun.
“The children have a blast walking the runway and showing off the latest fashion trends,” she said.
The company decided to host a model search contest to tie in to the event.
“This year, we are doing something new and exciting,” Spurgeon said. “We are doing a model search through this event, with two winners being chosen from each store. They will have the opportunity to be selected by Belk and Directions USA (a modeling agency) to be in a Belk catalog.
There will also be several vendors from the community that participate in this event, and a special appearance will be made by Belkie Bear.
