The Waxahachie Independent School District sponsors a project called Operation 1st Day of School each summer to help kids get off to a good start with all of their school supplies and more.  School supplies cost on average $90 per student and the program serves about 2,000 kids each year.

The Rotary Club of Waxahachie participates in a number of ways. You will find Rotarians handing out bottles of water to those waiting in line.  Other Rotary volunteers are giving each child a book to take home as his own. In addition, the Rotary Club has donated $2,000 toward the supplies the kids will need.

Parents and community members wishing to obtain more information on Operation First Day of School are encouraged to contact Dr. Nicole Mansell, Waxahachie ISD Director of Public Relations, at 972-923-4631 or nmansell@wisd.org
