Waxahachie junior golf tournament

The Waxahachie Country Club will host a golf tournament Aug. 19 for high school and junior high school golfers from Waxahachie, Midlothian, Red Oak and Ennis.

To register, email lonniegaylor@att.net or call 972-898-9556. Send your name, the grade you will be this fall, which school you attend and a phone number. The deadline for registration is Aug. 14.

Cost is $15 for junior high players and $20 for high school players. The cost covers the round, food and awards. The tournament begins at 8 a.m.

 

Sports nutrition and physicals

The Walnut Grove Family Health Center in Midlothian will be hosting a free seminar on sports nutrition and offering physicals Aug. 10.

They physicals cost $20 and area available from 8 a.m. to noon. The siminar will last from 8-10 a.m.

The Midlothian athletic department will host its annual series of summer camps again this summer.

Volleyball camp will be July 29-Aug. 1.

Another camp series for football will be Aug. 5-8.

Registration for Waxahachie youth baseball and fastpitch softball is now open.

You can register your young athlete now through the middle of August at www.wybonline.org. The season will start in the middle of September. 

 

SAGU offers 

basketball camp

The Athletic Department at the Southwestern Assemblies of God University has announced summer camps for children and teenagers in basketball.

College coaches and athletes will lead the camps that offer training and techniques from introductory to advanced skill levels, for boys and girls.

Basketball camp will be July 29-31 for ages 8-18 for the shooting and one-on-one camp. Cost is $200 as an overnight camper, or $120 as a day camper. Little Lions day camp will be Aug. 1-3, and it is for ages 4-10. Cost is $75.
