Georgia ‘Nanny’ Cavender

Georgia “Nanny” Cavender, 92, of Ovilla passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie. She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Lancaster, Texas to Charles E. and Anna Violet (Wyrick) Halteman. Georgia married Ray Cavender on March 9, 1937, in Dallas. She was a longtime member of the Long Branch Baptist Church. She was a very hard worker and took care of her family. Georgia was a loving mother, wife and grandmother.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Gerloff and husband, Dutch of Doss, Texas, Margaret Leverette of Angus, Texas, Sandra Liles and husband, Chuck, and Sherry Logan and husband, Sam all of Ovilla; 12 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Cavender; son, Gary Cavender; two sisters and four brothers.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Pastor Don Ricks officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Ovilla.
