MANSFIELD ó On Sunday, July 21, at 10 p.m., Mansfield Police 911 operators received a 911 call requesting a welfare check in the 600 block of Kingsway Dr.
Officers responded to the scene made entry into an apartment and found that a Hispanic female was deceased at the location.
Mansfield Police Criminal Investigation Division detectives were contacted along with Mansfield Police Crime Scene investigators. Both responded to the scene.
Based on information received at the location a person of interest was developed. Anthony Raymont Ford, 27, was last seen driving a 2004, black, two-door Pontiac Grand Am GT, with a missing right front hub cap, Texas license plate CZ8W738.
The suspect in this case was arrested Thursday. On the afternoon of July 25, at approximately 2 p.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol recognized a vehicle matching the description as provided by the Mansfield Police Department. When the Kansas Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop the suspect fled.
A short pursuit ended when the suspect was involved in a one-vehicle wreck near the Kansas/Oklahoma border on Interstate 35. Anthony Ford was arrested and transferred to a hospital in Kansas where he is currently listed in critical condition due to injuries received in the wreck.
Notifications of the arrest have been made to the murder victimís family as well as to the suspectís family.
