This week at the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market
This Saturday at the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market the master gardeners will be demonstrating how to make a rain barrel using a 55 gallon container.
Master Gardener Rainwater Specialists will be on hand with a barrel, tools and instructions to show you how to make a barrel and how to collect rainwater for use in your landscape.
Stop by the master gardener booth for the demonstration and to gather other useful horticulture information to help you keep your lawn and garden healthy and thriving during our hot summer months.
Midlothian Downtown Farmers Market
The Midlothian Downtown Business Association will host its downtown farmers market from 8 a.m.-noon every Saturday until October at Heritage Park by the Larkin Newton Log Cabin.
Mark 9 Search and Rescue at Sims Library
Nicholas P. Sims Library welcomes Mark 9 Search and Rescue. Join Sims Library from 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 12, as Mark 9 Search and Rescue presents their program. With the help of rescue dogs and their trainers, children are introduced to techniques to help alleviate their fears of being lost and learn how to protect themselves in case they are lost. As part of this program, children meet the dogs of Mark 9 and get a brief class on bite prevention. This is an outside event to be presented on the front lawn of Sims Library. Junk in the Trunk
The Waxahachie Downtown Merchants Association will host its community wide garage sale, ‘Junk in the Trunk,’ from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at historic Ellis County Courthouse located at 101 W. Main St. in downtown Waxahachie.
Susan K. Earl book signing
Susan K. Earl will be at Hastings Entertainment, 791 N. Highway 77 in Waxahachie, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, to sing copies of her book, “Ghost of Johanna.”
Ice Cream Social
Historic Waxahachie, Inc. is sponsoring a free ice cream social from 7:30-9 p.m. Saturday, July 13 around the courthouse square on Main Street. Ice cream will be served until it runs out.
Movies in the Park
The Midlothian Parks and Recreation Department will continue its Movies in the Park series sponsored by Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with a showing of “The Lorax”at dusk (8:30-9 p.m.)Saturday, July 13 at Hawkins Spring Park, 1498 Farm-to-Market Road 1387. Make sure to bring your blankets or chairs.
Community movie showing
A free showing of “the Blind Side” will be shown in downtown Waxahachie as part of the city’s Summer Moonlight Movies series Saturday, July 13. The movie will start at 9 p.m. and will be shown on a large blowup screen located on Franklin Street between College and Jackson Street in downtown. Concessions will be available for purchase.
