To the Editor,

I believe in our political process. I am a U.S. government teacher.

Government can only work if citizens have trust in its institutions.

Otherwise, anger at injustice builds and frustrated people gather themselves to petition and protest.

Using women’s health and their personal decision making as a “red meat” political issue to advance their own political careers is just plain wrong. Abortion is both legal and constitutional so let’s get on to the real issues that Texans need to solve desperately: water, transport, and education for a decent future.

Abortion is certainly a religious issue: but the last time I checked: Texas was not ruled by the Taliban.

Or is it?
