FERRIS – A 17-year-old male was transported by CareFlite helicopter to an area hospital after falling from a vehicle Friday Dec. 28. Firefighters responded to the call at 10:13 p.m. in the 1300 block of north Interstate Highway 45.

Ferris Fire Chief Scott Mitchell said reports indicate that the person was riding on a small passenger car and fell off of it. The person sustained a head injury and was transported to a trauma center, Mitchell said.

Units arrived on scene at 10:20 p.m. and received assistance from the Ferris Police Department and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. Only one vehicle was involved in the call. Units cleared the scene and returned to the station at 11:10 p.m. The current condition of the person is unknown as of press time.
