John David Griffin, 60, of Red Oak, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, peacefully, at his residence.
John was born in Waxahachie on Nov. 19, 1952 the son of the late Roy Faye Howell and J.W. Griffin.
John loved the lord and was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He worked as a courier for the American Red Cross for four and a half years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Ferris, Texas. He was married to Lola Louise Griffin on April 3, 1999 in Ferris at the First Baptist Church.
John is survived by one daughter, Lesley Gillispey, of Red Oak, Texas; one grandson, Christopher Wier, of Lewisville, Texas; one step-son, John, husband of Kenzie Wier, of Lewisville, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Lola and Ernest Kapustka; two sisters, Linda, wife of Marcus Tucker of Canton, Texas; Sandra, husband of Glen Maddox, of Garland, Texas; brother-in-law, Jim Kapustka of Hastings, Neb., sisters-in-law, Becky Wilson of Scottsbluff, Neb., Mary Kapustka of Hastings, Neb. and Carol Kapustka of Layeffette, Colo.; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, 304 W. 5th Street in Ferris, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green Funeral Home.
