State Representative Jim Pitts, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, is proud to join the Texas Hospitality Association (THA) and the Texas Department of Transportation in promoting a new holiday campaign aimed at preventing drunk driving.

The Holiday P.A.S.S. (Person Appointed to Stay Sober) campaign encourages Texans to give the gift of a sober ride home and to make it easier for sober drivers to enjoy festivities without drinking alcohol.

“The gift of a sober ride can help ensure that all your friends and neighbors in Ellis County get home safely this holiday season,” Representative Pitts said.  “Give the gift of a sober ride home or add a sober drive to your own holiday wish list.”

THA is distributing customizable sober driver “gift certificates” and other materials in stores where alcohol is sold.  Texans can visit the THA website at to print off their own Holiday P.A.S.S. bottle hangers and posters to include with alcoholic gifts.

“The Holiday P.A.S.S. campaign supports Texans in preventing drunk driving by planning ahead,” said Representative Pitts.  “If you know you will be drinking alcohol, have a Person Appointed to Stay Sober drive.  If you are hosting a party, be certain to offer alcohol-free options for a P.A.S.S.”

Well-known mixologist Rob Pate has created three signature holiday alcohol-free drinks for the Holiday P.A.S.S. campaign.
