Christmas Belles

Waxahachie Community Theatre will perform the Jones Hope Wooten comedy, “Christmas Belles,” Dec. 13-15 in the McCafferty Hall on the campus of Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie (1200 Sycamore).

Show times are:

• Friday, Dec. 14 — 7:30 p.m.

• Saturday, Dec. 15 — 2:30 p.m.

Black Nativity

Inspirtation Inc. Arts in the Community wil present its third annual performance of Langston Hughes’ popular musical play Black Nativity at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at First United Methodist Church of Ennis. Friday Book Club

Friday Book Club will meet in the home of Michelle Burks, 143 Lakeshore Drive, at 10 a.m. Dec.14 for coffee and 10:30 a.m. for the book review.  Guest reviewer will be Susan Boone.  


Christmas4Kids, a nonprofit organization, will be distributing Christmas presents to less fortunate families in Venus from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Venus Primary School, 102 Student Drive.

Celebrities such as Santa Claus, Miss Texas and movie actors will be present to encourage the children and bring Christmas joy to families in need. In addition to bicycles and presents, volunteers will also provide food, clothing and other necessities for families.

Gospel Explosion Christmas toy drive

SHEFA Ministries will host a Gospel Explosion Christmas Toy Drive at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Optimist Youth Center, 219 Patrick St. in Waxahachie.

The event is free. There will be singing, dancing and preaching. Bring one unwrapped toy, for ages 1-18, to support a needy family.

Toys may be dropped off at KBEC any day of the week during operating hours.

Sweats for Vets at VFW Post 3894

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Waxahachie VFW Post 3894 is asking for donations for its “Sweats for Vets” program for patients at the local Veterans Hospital. Sizes small thru 2X are needed – color doesn’t matter.  Cash donations are accepted. All donations must be to the Post, located at 1435 IH-35E west access road, on or before Monday, Dec. 17.

Santa at the Ranch

The Paws for Reflection Ranch will host its annual Santa at the Ranch event for families with special needs from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5431 Montgomery Road in Midlothian. The event is free, but donations are welcome or families can bring a holiday gift for the ranch animals. Families should bring their own camera to take pictures with Santa. Activities will include hayrides, craft areas, horseback rides, photos with Santa, refreshments and of course meeting all of the ranch animals.
