The Waxahachie Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan for a self-service ice kiosk at its Wednesday meeting. Presenting this request before the commission was Susan Jordan.

The business would be at the site of a former barbeque restaurant located at 528 S. Rogers St.  A new building would be constructed on the site with the existing building would be moved or torn down. The exterior of the 1,100 square feet building would be made of stone masonry.

Jordan said the landscaping around the building would have a stone border and would feature knockout rose bushes, Crape Myrtle trees and other native plants. The commission required Jordan to install a concrete surface for the driveway and parking area, which would replace the existing gravel surface. This would bring the new business into compliance with the city’s building standards requirements to have all weather surfaces.

The commission also approved a request for a specific use permit within a rural residential zoning district made by Seth Kelm to construct a 1,000 square feet metal barn that would be used to house a tractor and another vehicle on his property.  The barn would be located at 128 Lake Shore Drive.
