Ellis County resident Kim Garlitz was honored at the Texas Federation Republican Women “Tribute to Women” luncheon on June 8, held at the Fort Worth Omni Ballroom.
Garlitz is the Ellis County Republican Woman of the Year. She received the “Tribute to Women” gold pin for her exceptional volunteer service in positions of increasing responsibility within the Republican Women’s Organizations, the Texas Federation of Republican Women, the National Federation of Republican Women and the Republican Party of Texas.
Guest Speakers at the Luncheon were State Senator Joan Huffman, United States Senator John Cornyn, United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Texas State Comptroller Susan Combs.
Garlitz is known for her outstanding dedication and commitment to the Ellis County Republican Women and the Texas Federation of Republican Women. She has been the marketing/fundraising chair for three years.
During this time, she has coordinated numerous fundraising activities including a wine tasting, fashion shows, pancake breakfasts, and publishing a cookbook for the ECRW. She is serving as the membership chairperson for 2012.
She was on the advisory committee to establish the TFRW Constitution Day Project in Ellis County, helped with public relations to get the school superintendents on board with the program, and staffed the project with volunteers.
She has presented for the annual Dictionary Project since she joined Ellis County Republican Women. She has participated on a candidate’s steering committee with work on phone banks, event planning, manning candidate booths at local festivals, and other initiatives.
