Virginia Worthy Shrader, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Trinity Mission Health Care Center of Italy.
She was born Nov. 9, 1923, to Ivy W. and Lou Ethel (Southard) Worthy in Rankin, Texas. She grew up in Rankin and graduated from the Rankin School. After graduation she attended Texas Women’s University.
On Dec. 25, 1944, she married Charles H. Shrader Jr. and they made their home in Avalon, Texas.
She worked as a bank teller for First State Bank of Avalon and retired from Waxahachie Bank and Trust in 1986. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Avalon. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda McCulloch of Avalon; one grandson, Kevin McCulloch and his wife, Sheri, of Avalon; and three grandchildren: Blake, Morgan and Brock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, C.H. Shrader Jr. in 1983, son Charles “Chuck” Ivy Shrader, along with three brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Grady Cashion officiating. Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell.
Pallbearers will be Kevin McCulloch, Blake McCulloch, David McCulloch, Brock McCulloch, Sonny Southard and Vince Guerrero.
