MIDLOTHIAN - Terry Bradley felt his 18-wheeler shudder and knew someone had run into the back of his stopped rig at the intersection of U.S. Highway 287 and Walnut Grove Road Thursday afternoon.

“I got out of the cab and looked back,” said Bradley, 50, a driver headed to the Walgreen distribution center in Waxahachie. “But I wouldn’t go back there because I knew it was pretty bad.”

A 2003 Ford F250 pickup belonging to Masterpiece Housing had run under the back of the tractor-trailer that was stopped in the southbound lane about 3 p.m., waiting for the traffic light to change.

The name of the driver of the pickup or information on the accident was unavailable from the Midlothian Police Department by press time.

The left side of the pickup truck ran under the right rear side of the trailer, destroying the pickup’s engine compartment andpartiallycollapsing the passenger compartment. The pickup had to be pulled out from under the trailer so emergency personnel could extricate the driver.

The driver was conscious and talking to rescue workers when he was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Methodist Hospital. His condition was not known at press time this morning.

Bradley was not injured in the accident and the driver was the sole occupant of the pickup.

It is not known if a citation was issued and no official cause for the accident has been given.
